Garden’s Bounty

This post is basically just a picture gallery of what my garden looks like right now…July and August are when it looks the best.  As the rest of our property outside our yard is turning brown from lack of water and high heat the garden is a punch of various shades of green.  Why is it so cool to see things grow in the garden?  I can walk in my garden almost every day and see things literally growing in front of my eyes!  I like to take a cup of coffee in the morning or a glass of crisp white wine in the evening and just stroll around the yard and garden, trying not to see all the work that needs to be done but enjoying all the hard work we’ve accomplished.

Zero maintenance grasses.  Planted in mass they make more of an impact.

Blue Hubbard, White Pumpkin and Pole Beans
Morning Gory
Rainbow Beets
Broccoli
First time growing an artichoke…They’re tricking to grow so we’ll see how it goes.  They
prefer cooler summers and we’ve had record highs, oh well.  I think having the beets on
one side as kept it cooler cause it seems to be doing fine.
Bull’s Blood, Golden, and Chioggia Beets just before I pulled them up.
We ate the tops sautéd in garlic and olive oil,
then topped with warmed feta, drizzled olive oil with lemon zest and herbs on baguette.
Purple Peppers
The cutest little tomatoes…Sweet Pea Currant Tomato.  They’re about the size of a pea.
When you run out of garden beds…tomatoes under the stairs

A new winter squash for me...Blue Hubbard squash…they get about 2 feet big if you let them.
Morning Glory and herbs.
Beefsteak tomatoes
